Tequila Arette de Jalisco S.A. de C.V.

Tequila Arette represents the authentic voice of Mexico's tequila heartland, where the Orendain family has crafted spirits for over a century at their historic El Llano distillery. As one of the four founding tequila families, they remain proudly independent in an industry increasingly dominated by corporate giants, producing expressions that speak to tradition rather than trends.

History & Heritage

The Orendain legacy began in 1900 with the founding of El Llano distillery in Tequila, Jalisco, making it the third oldest distillery in the town. Brothers Eduardo and Jaime Orendain launched the Arette brand in 1986, representing the fifth generation of family tequila producers. The name honors Arette, the legendary Mexican horse that captured the country's first Olympic gold medals in jumping in 1948.

The Expressions

Arette produces 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agave tequila from their own fields on the outskirts of Tequila. Their dual approach includes a Classic line using stainless steel autoclaves and an Artisanal line employing traditional stone brick ovens for 48-hour cooking. Natural fermentation occurs in open-air concrete tanks for artisanal expressions, utilizing native house yeast and wild strains. Double distillation takes place in copper-coil pot stills, with expressions ranging from the crisp Blanco to the four-year-aged Gran Clase Extra Añejo.

Why It Matters

In a tequila landscape increasingly defined by celebrity brands and industrial production, Arette stands as a beacon of authenticity. Their commitment to additive-free, estate-grown expressions offers those who appreciate good tequila a direct connection to terroir and tradition. The volcanic water from deep wells at the base of Tequila volcano, combined with their refusal to compromise on artisanal methods, produces spirits that taste of place rather than marketing.
