When Bob Dylan decided to enter the whiskey business, he did more than lend his name to another celebrity spirit. Heaven's Door represents a serious commitment to American whiskey craft, backed by industry veterans and housed in a distillery that honors Kentucky's deepest traditions while pushing the art forward.

History & Heritage

Heaven's Door emerged in 2018 from Dylan's collaboration with Marc Bushala, co-founder of Angel's Envy, and Chicago-based Spirits Investment Partners. The distillery sits on 160 acres of rolling Kentucky hills in Pleasureville, land once owned by Squire Boone, brother of the legendary frontiersman. Master Distiller Ken Pierce oversees production in meticulously restored 18th-century structures, including two stillhouses housed in converted horse barns and a historic Moravian barn that anchors the property.

The Whiskey

The distillery produces diverse expressions spanning Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Double Barrel Whiskey, Straight Rye, and Tennessee Straight Bourbon. Their Ascension expression blends two different Kentucky mash bills for complexity, while custom Vendome stills craft spirits using limestone water drawn from underground aquifers. The operation cultivates its own heirloom grains and maintains EPA ENERGY STAR certification through geothermal heating and cooling systems. Dylan's iron gate sculptures from his Black Buffalo Ironworks studio grace each expression, but the liquid stands independent of celebrity.
