Teeling Whiskey Company
Dublin, Dublin · international
The Teeling name carries the weight of Dublin whiskey history, stretching back to Walter Teeling's distillery on Marrowbone Lane in 1782. When brothers Jack and Stephen Teeling opened their new distillery in the Liberties in 2015, they marked the return of whiskey production to Dublin after more than a century's absence.
History & Heritage
The modern Teeling Whiskey Company represents both continuity and revival. Walter Teeling's original operation established the family's Dublin roots in the 18th century, but it took until 2012 for the current generation to begin their return to the city. The new distillery sits in the historic Liberties district, mere blocks from where their ancestor first distilled whiskey.
The Whiskey
Teeling produces Irish whiskey that has earned recognition across international competitions. The distillery operates with modern equipment while honoring traditional Irish whiskey methods. Their expressions have collected multiple awards since production began, establishing the revived operation as a serious player in Dublin's whiskey landscape.
Why It Matters
Teeling represents Dublin whiskey's renaissance. As the first new distillery to operate in the capital in over 125 years, it signals the city's return to its historical role as an Irish whiskey center. The Teeling expressions in The Sentinel Room's Reserve Whiskey Library carry both the weight of Dublin's whiskey heritage and the promise of its future.
