Cardinal Sin Distillery

Cardinal Sin Distillery, located at 825 South Main Street in Historic St. Charles, Missouri, was founded in 2012 by three friends: Greg Deters, Steve Herberholt, and Bill Schroer. The distillery initially set out with the goal of producing exceptionally smooth, ultra-pure vodkas.

The distillery is known for its hand-crafted, micro-batch approach to distilling. For their vodkas, they utilize a unique still to avoid over-distillation, aiming to create an ultra-pure spirit that retains the character of its high-quality grains. They later expanded their production to include a variety of whiskies, which are aged in artisan crafted charred-oak barrels, such as new Missouri White Oak Bourbon barrels used for their Starka. Their Cardinal Sin ENVY Rye Whiskey is made from a 70% rye mash bill and aged for five years, while Cardinal Sin PRIDE American Single Malt Whiskey is distilled from a 96% malted barley mash bill and aged 20 months in special honey-combed barrels.

Cardinal Sin Distillery distinguishes itself by pushing the boundaries of artisan distilling. They are notable for releasing America's first barrel-aged Starka vodka, which brings the Eastern European tradition of aged vodka to the United States. Their spirits are recognized for their smoothness and purity. A particularly distinctive offering is their Cardinal Sin WRATH Cinnamon & Chili Pepper Whiskey, with each bottle containing its own cinnamon stick and red chili pepper. The distillery also has a stated goal of releasing seven "Original Sin Whiskies".

The distillery has received accolades for its products, including being selected by USA TODAY as the best craft vodka distillery in the US and earning gold medals for its vodka. Their diverse range of notable expressions includes Cardinal Sin Vodka, Cardinal Sin Starka (barrel-aged vodka), Cardinal Sin ENVY Rye Whiskey, Cardinal Sin PRIDE American Single Malt Whiskey, Cardinal Sin WRATH Cinnamon & Chili Pepper Whiskey, Cardinal Sin LUST Bourbon, and Cardinal Sin OMG Brown Sugar Whiskey.
